ok,. wise folks - i have a dilemma. i just dropped a lid behind the stove, and it's an important lid, a nice lid, and a lid that mr josh is going to want not behind the stove. I need to get it out - I can't see behind the stove, and I have alimited amount of mobility there, as there is a stove hod, so I can't stick, say a mop handle down there, although I should be able to stick a yardstick down it.

help, please.

If you have double-sided tape, put some of that at the end of the yardstick. You've got to be able to press the yardstick against the lid to make sure it'll stick to the tape. You may want to clean as much dust as you can out from this crevasse; if too much dust sticks to the tape, it won't hold the lid. In fact, use the double-sided tape [masking tape or packing tape work just as well if you can get the sticky side facing out] to clean out the dust, THEN fresh tape to grab your wayward lid. Duct tape isn't going to work real well for this because its designed to hold things together via maximum coverage [which is why it has those threads], and doesn't have nearly as high an adhesive factor [what I believe chemists call 'affinity'] as masking tape or clear plastic packing tape.

ah-ha. :) another option - i kept thinkin g- i need a hook. how can i get a hook?
