Aug. 6th, 2001 08:56 amso josh and i stopped unpacking last night and collapsed into bed. i was *supposed* to find my birth control pills. :) oh well - hopefully they will turn up today!
so yesterday, we finished the unloading. the house is a mess - my stuff in boxes everywhere. we're moving things around, figuring out how we're going to fit it all in - I'm unpacking boxes, taking some stuff out, and then repacking boxes to send back to my dad's.
we're forcing the unhappy kitty to socialize outside of the bedroom. i wouldn't force her, if she were happy to stay in the bedroom - but she sits in there and meows at the door, and then starts to come out, and when she sees another kitty, she stops, and hisses. so today, i grabbed her, told her she *would* socialize, and tossed her into the hallway. so there. I'm a little short-tempered still - there's a kitty in the bedroom, walking over us, digging at boxes, etc, and then there are kitties outside the door, scratching on it. so sleeping after a certain point is hopeless, pretty much. (sigh)
but, i officially have a week to get unpacked and ready. i went to the art stores in atlanta yesterday, and looked at getting paints and such - there are nly two kinds of guoache (I probably spelled that wrong) windsor and newton (which is anywhere from 6-15 dollars a tube) and sf btand, which is closer to $3 a tube, but much less quality.. so i was looking for an inbetween one, but couldn't find it. I also really want some prismacolor sets, but i don't know if i can actually use them or not (for school. :) ). I did get some drawing pencils, erasers, grey scale colored pencils, and three prismacolor markers to play with, so that i can decide if it's worth it to get the whole set or not. (and which size set to get, in that case)
I need to work on my drawing and painting skills - I'm working on drawing, first. :) I got a fashion model drawing book - it's pretty interesting, and talks a lot about fabric and shading, which is really what i need to work on. my renderings have had a very flat quality for a while - i need to figure out the whole shading thing. before, i was essentially done with my design casses, so i just didn't worry about it.
we decided to put shelves along an entire wall of the living room. so i started assembling my shelves there, last night- right before we slept. :) i think we may do shelves in the hallway, too, or these may cover it. we'll see how much more we have to deal with. josh didn't really get his own section of the studio - just more like some shelf space, but he says he is okay with that. there's a table in there that we can both use, and a desk for my sewing machine, but he gets the drawers.. if it turns out he's not happy with it, once we get the rest of the house done, we can work it out.
off to unpack some more - i need to go and get my tag today, as well, so i can deal with that citation. i really hope i don't have to go to atlanta to deal with it.
