anyone know how to get the images off microfiche? i need them to be in color and on my computer - the library's microfiche reader will print, but only in black and white, and I've tried scanning them at 1200 dpi and then enlarging them, and that didn't work too terribly well - they were all still too dark.

You're going to need a scanner with a transperency adapter.
Call nearby Kinko's - they may have one.

you rock. :) this is what i was told today, but i didn't realize it was an adapter - i thought it was a special kind of scanner.
