xmas cards

I'm mailing all of my xmas cards today. :) I used up two books of stamps. I feel accomplished.

and of course, i went out and participated in the thanksgiving shopping madness - I'm now the proud owner of a printer/scanner/copier combo from best buy. woohoo, i say. and i went to jo-ann's and got an art organizer for all my paints/brushes, so that's pretty cool, too. hee.

today, i am clenaing, making candles, and going to the library. as much as that pains me. i have work to get done, though, and i technically had two days off. may as well get back into it, so i can hurry up and get it done!

goals for the day

goals for today:

-wash at *least* two loads of clothes. washing and drying *all* the clothes would be better. :)
-put away aforementioned clothes, instead of leaving them in baskets in the bedroom
wash two loads of dishes, or until the sink/counters are clean(lots of baking!)
-make some candles (this is the fun part. :) )
-go to the library and do 1920s chicago research (unless I can get enough off the web, and book research is still technically better)
-balance my checkbook (unheard of for me, but I *have* to start)
-clean something. maybe the living room, or the bathroom, or the kitchen, or some in all three - but something needs to be cleaned.
-windex mirror & countertops in bathroom, pour drano down both shower & sink drain, etc.
- clean out poki cage, give him fresh litter.
at some point, I also need to set up my new printer and make sure it works, plus my new monitor (my dad had an extra, and it's larger than mine.). hopefully i can set it up a bit, so I'm looking up at it, instead of down and screwing with my neck. since it seems inevitable that I'll be spending more time on the computer. :)

GetCrafty is a very cool site. :) I just found it, or maybe someone mentioned it in their journal, I don't know.

but they have a lovely article on how to make your own (large) bulletin boards, which I may do the next time I move. :)

read the first harry potter book yesterday, finally. people have been trying to get me to read it for two years now. :) now, i think i'll watch the movie, since we have it. :)

so i have my new monitor set up (josh did it, and set up the printer, too!) and it's lovely. and I asked him to put it on a box, and he did, so now i don't look down anymore when i read things, which is wonderful. :)

hee. So I've been playing around on getcrafty.com, and I found out how to make marble magnets. :) so we went to walmart, and in addition to get cat food & socks for Josh, we got me supplies for marble magnets. :) spent maybe ten dollars, and I should be able to make at least 50. hee. which will be a nice addition to candles as presents, and makes me feel better, but is also something crafty to do.

I want to learn how to knit/crochet, so I can make scarves and such.
