i was thinking about hand quilting. that way, i could do it while i watched tv, or carry it in a little bag with me, and do it when i had just a few minutes. :)
how long does it take? is it fun? do you have patterns that you like?
It takes a long time.. But it is fun, and I have several patterns that I really really like. My personal favorite is the Cathedral Window Quilt. I made one of crushed velvet (hard) and gave it to a friend.
Cathedral is a good "lap" quilt. It invloves lots of folding..(almost like origami) and very neat very close together very tight stitches.
The one I made was different.. I used black crushed velvet for the base squares (which was hard because it rolls up if you stretch it too much and it doesnt like to be "pressed") And colorful velvet burn out for the windows. It was very beautiful when I finished.
A reason I like Cathedrals is because there's no batting involved.. what you end up with is a beautiful bedspread, actually. I think it's a good "first" quilt but people disagree with me. It was my first quilt pattern and I loved it. Plus, it's great because you can use even your smallest scraps.
