It's easy if you can sew and you can..

It's time consuming.. are you going to hand quilt or machine quilt?

I do my piecing on the machine but my quilting by hand.

It takes a long time.. But it is fun, and I have several patterns that I really really like. My personal favorite is the Cathedral Window Quilt. I made one of crushed velvet (hard) and gave it to a friend.

Cathedral is a good "lap" quilt. It invloves lots of folding..(almost like origami) and very neat very close together very tight stitches.

It's hard to explain but Here's a photo of one..

The one I made was different.. I used black crushed velvet for the base squares (which was hard because it rolls up if you stretch it too much and it doesnt like to be "pressed") And colorful velvet burn out for the windows. It was very beautiful when I finished.

A reason I like Cathedrals is because there's no batting involved.. what you end up with is a beautiful bedspread, actually. I think it's a good "first" quilt but people disagree with me. It was my first quilt pattern and I loved it. Plus, it's great because you can use even your smallest scraps.

Starting isn't hard, it's finishing that's the bear. :-)
