yummy morning. :)

we made our first two candles of the season last night. they are a lovely dark purple, and cute cute cute. :) we used our two new molds, and they worked quite well. i need to clear out room in the fridge, though, because we can make them more quickly that way, and they come out of the molds more easily.

I love making candles! I haven't done it in a while. What kind of wax do you use?

I've got some molds, but you know, I'm not really jazzed with them. I want to get a pillar mold, and I want to get some decent wax, and I want to get some decent wicks, and I want to make pillars.

*sigh*

hee. we use the block wax from michael's. we're easy. pearl, in atlanta, has some nice molds and wicking and stuff. :) we now have 5 molds. :) 2 pillars, a star, a tringle, and an octagon-y type thing. :) this is our second year, and we got two smaller molds than we had last year, and they take less wax, which is cool. the sides aren't smooth, though - the wax sticks or something, and I'm not quite sure how to fix that. other than that, though, we're doing well. :)

James has some kind of coating he sprays on his molds to get them to release smoothly. Mebbe I could ask him.

Maybe the reason my candles weren't so great is that I used Gulf Wax Paraffin, not the stuff that Michael's has.

Candles are one of my weaknesses, and well, purple is another right now...

really? did it work for you, was it profitable? i'm thinking about making some fabric crafty things and trying to get them on consignment in some shops in athens.

well, it was mostly a hobby that turned into a spare cash thing...it wasn't extremely profitable, but that was because we didn't have enough spare time to make large quantities...we also made incense holders, "clay" covered apothecary jars (black light responsive and erm...aka "nug jars"), and a few other items ^^;;;;
